Lowcountry

The Lowcountry is a mostly flat or rolling hills geographic area of South Carolina bordered on the east by the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean and to the west by the Piedmont or Midland areas of the state. The border between the Piedmont region("Upstate") and the Atlantic Coastal Plain(the "Lowcountry") is called the Fall Line to mark the line where the upland rivers "fall" to the lower Atlantic Coastal Plain.
