Tarantino's

A screenwriting technique in which two or more characters have a conversation that has nothing to do with the plot of the movie or the current situation, but is usually added to lighten the mood, or to develop character. This method can either work to the movie's advantage, or just slow it down. Coined by Doug Walker, AKA the Nostalgia Critic, in his review of M. Night Shyamalan's "Signs."
