A style of trousers that became very popular in the late-70s early European punk movement. Current popularity amongst
emo teens aside, drainpipes were, originally, the anti-bellbottoms, worn by The Ramones, The Clash, The Prunes,
The Stooges (when
Iggs could be persuaded to wear clothing at all!), and other bands that mattered. To say drainpipes are fitted pants worn by radio-friendly emos is like saying Good Charlotte is punk. Or Gwen Stefani is glam. Or My Chemical Romance is rock. It's a f***ing sin, and anyone who perpetrates this crime against intelligence should be ashamed. Plus lined up and shot and
burried in an unmarked grave.
